Q1

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
Our media product uses develop and challenging forms of convention by using different varities of camera shots, mise-en scene and editing to show the audience what the meaning is to the two minutes opening film. I also challenged the forms of convention by researching six different opening films to get an idea how our opening scene will look like for e.g. titling image or titling background. Overall in my media project I used convention method to get an idea on how pyscological thrillers begin and if they use diegetic or non-diegetic sounds.

Q2

How does your media product represent particular social groups?

Q3

What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
My media institution is more typical this is because it links to my ideas from my six opening analysis of its genre. The kind of media distribution that its more likely to be distributed is in Warner Bros this is because of the audience of the product its aimed at.

In my research analysis of six opening films It gave me a few hints on whether which distribution would be suitable for our film. Although we started with the universal distribution however we decided to change the distribution to the Warner bros this was because it this was because this distribution company was more likely to be aimed at typical audiences.

However the distribution is not really what the audience will focus on but they would mainly focus on the storyline signifying a message. Our group also believed that our film will benefit a wide range of our target audience by our chosen production and distributions this is because it has the potential to be conventional to the audience. Alternatively it is still important to to have the right distribution for my media product because of its viewing durability and the large amount of audience that its aimed at.

Promoting:

Network sites such us myspace and Facebook could be used to establish pages and groups for fans of the group which means more discussions and decisions could be made for our film in order to help us decided whether the distribution is suitable for our media product.

Q4

Who would be the audience for your media product?

When I was producing my media product I was aiming to advertise for teenagers at the age of 15 or above who enjoy watching pyscological thriller. I didnt aim it to any age this was because this film contains horror such as blood which is unacceptable for ages below 15. It has to be restricted below that age.

What gender are you?
Although this film was aimed at both gender roles we asked a few questions whether they were male or female. I was looking at the segmentation for e.g. age, social backgrounds and gender in order to target at the right audience. However we mainly had more girls watching our film then boys this was because only two female characters starred in this film which means that this may relate and represent their social background on the use of costume etc.

We found that more females watched our film which therefore means that this is therefore aimed at young female audience aged 15 or above. This film mainly had female audience this was because their were only two female characters which signifies the character's acting and personality could link to their lifestyle etc.

Secondary target audience:

Although this film was mainly aimed at teenage girls however it could also be aimed for boys who enjoy or find psychological thriller interesting. This is because my media product also features blood and a dead body on the ground which could also persuades male audience to watch the movie.

Who is this film mainly aimed at?

This film is mainly aimed at young women this is because this could relate to their life on the stress nerve racking situations they've been through. The aim of our media product was to grab the audience attention to see the main characters visions on what shes caused and why? This therefore means that the audience will want to see more of the film because they do not know whether she killed her friend, brother etc.

Q5

How did you attract/address your audience?

My media product will attract the majority of different target groups either the age of 15 or above. However it will mainly be targeted for mature audience at above the age of 15. Although I tried to address someone who was not into psycological thriller he seemed to be stuck up critizising what the film's like etc. This was mainly because they did'nt enjoythe movie and that it that they're not our target audience.

Audience Point of view:

I found that what mainly catches our audience attention was what their favorite part of our media product was. This helped me understand what the audience believed in by asking a few questions for e.g. How does this film make you feel about the character? etc. After that the audience gave us feedback on whether the character made them have empathy or not.

Certain responses were positive about the character they believed that the character was vulnerable and made them have empathy for them but however they believe that a few things were not included in our film. They believed that not enough editing and transitions were included in our film which means it didn't make the audience have an effect on the film.

Audiences responses for the film

At the end of our final we had two target audience 2 male audiences. They did enjoy the film but however they were not to sure on the use of sound and transitions. They believed that those two could technical problems could be improved by editing carefully. This was a big disappointment to the audience this was because they've expected more action in our introduction which grabs the audience attention.

The audience have seen my film and gave me feed back on what's good about and what could be improved. Most of the audience liked the story-line and enjoyed the transitions but however they were a bit concerned about the transitions. This was because they believed that their were not varieties transitions used in our media product.

6) Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

I've learnt alot about using the camera and using varieties of angles and the varieties of mise-en-scene to represenet a particular social background. I’ve learnt that In our final media product we were able to use a tripod to film steady. This was because In our preliminary task we wasn’t be able to use a tripod and we had to use the camera with ourhands, which kept shaking. This was hard for us to film this was because the audience couldn’t identify what certain shots were. For e.g. in the first scene where Zara was coming through the door it was hard to notice what shot it was this was because the camera was wobbly.

Our quality of filming also went well this was because we had more time to film and edit scenes which were not necessary to our film. I feel that our group was more motivated in our final film this was because the organizer required us to plan what shots should be in each scene. We also helped support the each others strengths and weaknesses towards this project.

Although we've improved in the final film the preliminary task also helped us developed our skills needed in order to get the shots and editing done. It our group how to edit scenes which didn't come out as it should be. Throughout the project I feel that the preliminary task was necessary for our group this was because it benefited us to achieve the skills needed for our final film.

Q7

7) What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

I've learnt the use of technology which is simplified as the matter of producing a film. The use of digital camera and the computer loaded up with a software movie maker which becomes very easy for us to edit and include non diegetic sound if necessary for our media product. All you have to do is click and drag your selected shots into the right order. This then can be cut down by editing as even someone with very little experience in editing film can manage to accomplish their task, and to a reasonably professional standard. Using other technology product such as blog site to mark certain things you may want to refer or include to later in the project such as changes in scripts storyboards etc. Having a blog also means you can plan and show certain aspects of the project to a greater detail.

It was important for us to use blogger this is because it shows evidence to the audience to how we've planned our film and who our target audience were.

Slide-share also helped us this was because we couldn't upload our work onto blog so it was easier to use slide-share in order to upload are work. This was done by embedding the codes that as required for each research and evidence from our work. It was also useful this was because if any work was missing in our file you can find it from slide-share and download and save your work onto your file. Slide-share was a useful technological process we've used this was because I've learnt new skills by uploading and embedding the codes shown onto each piece of research and evidence in order to make changes.

I've also learnt how to use I movie to edit our media product. I've plugged in the the digital camcorder and I movie begins to import my video. The I movie helped us organize our videos in to the correct order in order to see which ones were needed and which was not as relevant. Using I movie helped me get through editing this was because grouping the video clips had dates on when there were filmed. So its easier to see whether to find the clips your looking for whether to watch or edit it. To edit quicker you drag the clip you've imported than play it a couple of times to see if it needs to cut or not. It also gives different ways to add your clips onto the project. You can now replace or insert clips using single pop up menu.

I've also learnt how to upload videos onto youtube in order to get responses from the audiences. In order to upload my videos onto youtube you click share then go onto share then go onto full quality share. Its better to get full quality this is because if you have a poor quality video then the audience wouldn't enjoy the film which may distract the audience. As I've uploaded my video successfully I've copied the embed code in order to paste onto my blog. The maximum timing for our film was approximately 2:08 which means that youtube uploaded my video successfully and quickly this was because of the timing.
